Beneficial of The English Reading Strategies subject





The English Reading Strategies subject is beneficial for me. I gave me experience and knowledge very much. I know how to read faster. I know, skimming and scanning technique of reading. I know how to finds word meaning by suggesting from context. I had practice conversation by English language. I did activities and enjoy with friends. I create a weblog. Weblog help me practice writing skill and thinking of my own idea.
English Reading Strategies subject help me improve English language skill.

Thank you  teacher  for taught us everything .




Extensive reading (continued)

 Teacher ordered us checked homework with partner.
First exercise reading “Extensive reading” passage and answers the question by put (T) if sentence are True and (F) if sentence are False and write the line number where the evidence is.
Second exercise answers the question without a dictionary by choose multiple choice.

After that we checked some answer incorrect. Then, I had test 1 hours. I spent too much time did test. I reading test by reading faster technique. I felt disappointed because I didn't test yet in that time. I can’t concentrate with test

Extensive reading

The instructor ordered us checked homework with partner. Then, ordered student wrote answer on white board and teacher checked answer together with instructive writing technique.
After that,Gave us worksheet unit 9 “Extensive reading”
In first exercise I discuss the question with a partner. Second answer question in my opinion. “How useful is reading alone in developing language skill” Then, reading the texts by reading faster technique and answer question. Finally, teacher assigned us to do homework and read books for test next week.

1. Reader  has eyesight problem.
2. Difficult grammar.
3. Stop reading when found unfamiliar word
4. Unable to identify the main idea.

1. Usually practice reading.
2. Reading books are interesting.
3. Don’t stop reading until the end.

Instructor ordered us checked and discussed homework with partner. Then, checked corrected answer by student wrote own answer on  white board and teacher checked together with instructive writing technique. After that We studies reading faster I can reading faster than before studies.
Then , we started Unit 8 “The ASEAN Community 2015”
Teacher assigned us to make mind map on white board about The ASEAN Community.


Almost last , we watched YouTube , ASEAN Community in 2015 and wrote answer in worksheet. Finally, teacher assigned us to do homework.

about the letter to Ann Landers. Then, teacher asked us about answers in exercise by using own ideas and don’t copy sentence in the texts. After that, read letter, advice and shared with partner. Next, we start Unit 7 “Read faster”. Teacher asked us “What are obstacles of faster reading?”

Description of Books and Novels

We had midterm exam for 1 hour. I finished it last person and I wasn't sure about this exam. Then, I studies Unit 6 “Description of Books and Novels”. Teacher gave ours the worksheets and assigned us to do it. I read the texts about books and novels. After that, I discussed with my friend and did exercise by using skimming and scanning reading technique. Next, read the letter and match its corrected response. Finally, Teacher assigned us to do homework.

West meets East (continued)

We studies Unit 5 “West meets East” continued from last week. Teacher checked homework. Then, ordered us read exercise one person per one sentence for checked answer.
After that, Read the text, discussed with my friend and do exercise. I used scanning reading technique in the text. I found problem when I sometimes read the words incorrect. My teacher recommend us used Cambridge dictionary checked phonetics and how to pronounce

West meets East

We studies Unit 5 “West meets East”.
First,   We watched picture about West and East cultures.
Then, teacher assigned us to do worksheet.
I read The “Asianization” of the United States text and discussed with my partner. I used scanning reading technique in the text and guess meaning form context when I did my worksheet. Next, teacher assigned us to do homework.
I thought exercise and text are rather difficult because in the text had specialized vocabulary and hard to understand easily .

Fashion (continued)



We studied about Hairstyle. First, looked the pictures and solve anagrams about hair. Second, Read the text about hairstyle in 5 countries and found summary with friends.
Then, I did exercise matched a county with a sentence, completed the sentence with the linking words, read sentence and circle F for Fact or O for Opinion and talked to  partner and answer the questions. After that, we talked about hairstyle with friends in my group (1 group had 5 students) my group had  3 because another didn't come to class  . It was so easy for me

HOMEWORK 

Your university has decided that all female students should have long hair and all male students should have crew cuts. Write to the student magazine with your opinion about this.I think that the new hair rules are bad idea because students should have freedom about their hairstyle
They should have the right to choose their hairstyle but their hair must polite and not too insane.
I also think that students shouldn’t dye their hair .

Fashion 14 / 9 / 2015


      Today , we learnt about Fashion .  First , we  did pre reading 1 and have to much unfamiliar word i didn't know such as fish stocking , halter top , platform shoes .
Part 2 checked the sentences I thought false . I guessed answer and checked that I thought false but, it was true. 
When I read the text about fashion. I used scanning reading technique in the texts. 
In part 3 guessed answer from three summaries about the text was correct. 
In part 4 answer the question from the text. 
In part 5 Read a definition and decided which verb it describes. 
In part 6 completed the sentence with the verbs form exercise 5. I wrote the verbs by considered appropriate of sentence. 
Exercise 7 completed the sentence with used to
Plus the verb in brackets. It was easy for me. 
Exercise 8 Use the prompts and wrote some sentences about myself.
I sometimes  afraid to spoke English , cause  my pronounce wasn't clearly

Today , we had  test about Healthy diet and Natural disasters  ,so  it's not hard but  not easy . i can did it very fast , I went  out class first person. Next we studied later  from last week  .  Teacher divide in group A , B , C , D , E , F  .  I was in group A , my  group  got  Blogging for  English  Learning Teaching .

texts details were as follows: Using for teaching. Teacher can exchange ideas or comment with students in blogs. Teacher and students can read others blog. Students can practice for reading skill.
As Online student learner journals that can be read by their peer. Blog can stimulate out-of-class discussion.
Can help build a closer relationship between students in large classes.

         Today , we learnt about technology but teacher assign us about Technology news so this is my news and sharing in front of class.


New Robotic Exoskeleton Is Controlled by Human Thoughts


         One big, robotic foot and then the other; that's how a man wearing a clunky-looking exoskeleton makes his way across the room. The machine's motors are noisy and its movements are painfully slow, but these details seem to fade into the background when you realize how the man is controlling the cumbersome contraption: He's doing it with his mind. The exoskeleton — a robotic device that fits around the man's hips and legs — is part of a new technology being developed by researchers in Germany and Korea. The other part is a dark cap on the man's head, covered with electrodes that facilitate the connection between his brain and the machine.
The man wearing the exoskeleton in the experiment can walk on his own (he's one of the participants in the researchers' newly published study), but the scientists think their new mind-controlled device could one day be used by people who can't walk — such as those who have suffered severe spinal cord injuries, or people with neurodegenerative diseases, like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
 
       When we finished this activity,our instructor asked us to write words about technology on the whiteboard . Take a look .

 

I wrote Linux , Virus ,Video call but I wrote video really ugly haha . :) 

           Next,we obtained today's technology worksheets from the teacher. She assigned us to do exercises from page 24 to 28.We were assign read Profcast in page 24 by skimming and summarize it with a partner. 

               
               After that,the teacher asked us to divide in groups of 3 couples or 6 people for exchange our summarize and analyze the best summarize together with find pros and cons of profcast about 15 minutes before present it in front of the class by representative of each groups.

                     Today , we  learnt  about  Natural  Disasters again continued from last week . So  I  got punished  by knock  the chair 20 times again for trolling teacher haha . Then we  learnt   Natural  Disasters in Japan earthquake happen in 11 March 2011 . After that we wrote answer in worksheet . Then teacher said  find word  we didn't know  wrote in worksheet and  meaning in English too. Next there we  learnt   Natural  Disasters in California wildfire happen in 4 August 2015. After that we wrote answer in worksheet . My group didn't present  this week again.

       Are  you  dizzy ? Why , I take  first part with  Japanese food pictures .  this is topic  in classroom today,  we study about Japanese diet.  Do you know Westerners turn a Japanese diet ?  Many people in the West are turning to a Japanese because them contain  low cholesterol and reduce the risk of cancer.  So that why they turn to a Japanese diet .   

 In the end of class,the teacher give us three homeworks.the first is groupwork about healthy or unhealthy diet's presentation.the second is writing diary of week 2 and the last is reading  news online about natural disaster and exchange the news in our group next week. 


I think  my diet is quite healthy .  I eat a lot of  vegetables soup  and salad.I try not to eat too much fizzy drink  .For breakfast I usually eat a dish ofrice with omelette.  and at lunchtime I usually eat a dish of Pork fried rice.In the evening I sometimes eat a bowl of rice gruel.One thing I love is  the Spicy Muslim curry and one thing I never eat is dog soup.

 Today's in English Reading strategies class ,I learn introduction of this 
subject,various strategies of English reading such as skimming,scanning, I always use skimming when i read news . 

A healthy diet? this is topic about classification between healthy diet and unhealthy diet, when  I learn  this  I think about how many are junk foods 
I ate them in my whole life


Teacher teach us about how to use Cambridge dictionaries online.  In addition,the teacher tell us about classroom rules. including be punctual,pay attention to the lesson,do not use cell phone in the classroom.do not cheat,follow dress code policy and listen while others are speaking or sharing.
